Smooth the caulk into place with a wet finger. Cut the applicator tip of the caulking tube at a 45 degree angle with a sharp utility knife. Turn the notches in the pushrod downward. Caulk the tops of the baseboards.

Install a tube of caulk into a caulking gun securing it in place so it will not shift or come out. Unsanded caulk has a smooth appearance and texture. There are 11 ounces of caulk in this tube. It goes on white and dries white as well.

Our experts prefer cutting the caulk tube nozzle at a blunt 20 degree angle instead of 45 degrees. Dap acrylic latex caulk is mildew and moisture resistant making it the perfect choice for bathroom and kitchen caulking or anywhere else where you are dealing with a high moisture area. It has a grainy texture and appearance. When you re ready to caulk for real hold the tip of your caulking gun against the space where the wall and the top of the baseboard meet.

Try to keep the caulk level with or barely below the level of the floorboards similar to the way grout sits between ceramic tiles. Urethane caulk can be purchased in different woodlike colours so choose a colour that matches the stain on the floor or is slightly darker. Be careful when caulking that you do not get caulk on the flooring. Hold the gun at a 90 degree angle to the gap and push a bead of caulk slightly ahead of the nozzle as you push the gun forward and continue applying pressure.

Sanded caulk has particles in it that help it adhere to wet surfaces and expand in larger gaps without cracking. Allow the caulking to dry for about 24 hrs. Keep the hole in the tip flat against the wall this means you should hold the gun diagonally. Replace the boards back to their original place.

The caulk is very durable and flexible too. Caulk made of pure silicone or siliconized latex acrylic i e latex or acrylic caulk with added silicone adheres well to common shower and tub materials including porcelain ceramic stone. Apply urethane caulk on top of the backer rod to fill the remaining gap. Ensure the caulk lie on the caulk in perfectly you can wet your finger to press it into the gap.

Select mold and mildew resistant non toxic and odor free caulk for your subfloor. Use sanded caulk any time you use sanded grout and in joints 1 8 inch or wider.
